Meet Dr. McGillis
Hi, I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience helping people move through pain, confusion, and transition toward real, lasting growth.
Since earning my Doctorate in Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2003, I’ve worked in a variety of settings—from community mental health to college counseling centers, private practices, and group therapy clinics. Each chapter of my career has deepened my passion for supporting individuals ready to explore who they are and how they want to grow.
Therapy with me is collaborative and grounded in trust. I bring a warm, relatable, nonjudgmental presence to each session—and I’m not afraid to be direct when it helps move you forward. My approach is psychodynamic, which means we explore how your early relationships and life experiences shape who you are today, and how they may be influencing your current patterns, emotions, or relationships.
Over the years, I’ve helped adults heal from trauma, break free from cycles of narcissistic abuse, process unresolved family dynamics, and navigate complex identity or relationship challenges. I also specialize in supporting clients within the LGBTQ+ community and those managing depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance use recovery.
